The time is fast approaching when the core of the Queen’s Wharf precinct will be closed to the public and construction by Destination Brisbane Consortium will commence. The first of the noticeable changes begin on 1 January 2017.

The Queensland Government’s preferred proponent for the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane Integrated Resort Development has been announced as the Destination Brisbane Consortium (Echo Entertainment Group, Far East Consortium (Australia) and Chow Tai Fook Enterprises).

Brisbane Open House 2014

Both the Commissariat and National Trust House at Queen’s Wharf were open for the 2014 Brisbane Open House (BOH) held on 11-12 October 2014. This fifth annual event allowed visitors to explore both buildings, for the first time viewing the basement level of National Trust House, a space not previously open to the public.

UR{BNE} event

On 28, 29 and 30 March 2014 the U.R.{BNE} Collective took over Queen’s Wharf for the 2014 annual community Festival. The U.R.{BNE} Collective creates innovate public involvement in urban spaces by encouraging people to activate what appear to be one-dimensional spaces.

Over three days the usually quiet Queen’s Wharf area became the venue for a clothes swap, a style over speed bike race, live music, a pop-up bar, street skate jam and an Expressway Dinner along Queen’s Wharf Road.

November, 2014

On 24 November 2014 the lights came on for Colour Me Brisbane, a spectacular after dark illumination of some of Brisbane’s best loved and signature landmarks, one of the features of the G20 Cultural Celebrations.

21 November, 2013

The Queensland Government has changed the name of the Government Precinct Redevelopment to Queen’s Wharf Brisbane. The change was announced in state parliament by Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney on 21 November 2014.
